PREPARING OUR MATCHA
THE RITUAL OF MATCHA
Making matcha isn’t just about preparing a drink – it’s a mindful ritual that allows you to pause and connect with yourself. Each step, from whisking to sipping, invites you to slow down and enjoy the moment.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To prepare matcha, you’ll need a few simple tools: matcha powder, a bowl (or mug), and a bamboo whisk or milk frother. You’ll also need hot water, around 80°C (not boiling), and optional milk like oat or almond if you prefer a latte.
THE TRADITIONAL METHOD
Start by adding 1–2 grams of matcha into your bowl. Add around 50mls of hot water and use a bamboo whisk in a zigzag motion to create a frothy, smooth texture. Adjust the ratio of matcha to water based on your preference. Sip it pure for a traditional experience or add milk for a creamy latte.
TIPS FOR PERFECT MATCHA
For the best results, always use fresh, high-quality, ceremonial grade matcha. If you’re new to matcha, experiment with ratios to find your perfect taste. And if you don’t have a whisk, a milk frother works too (but we'd strongly advise in getting yourself a bamboo matcha whisk for BEST results).
BEYOND THE BOWL
Matcha isn’t just for drinking – its versatility makes it perfect for smoothies, baked goods, or even breakfast recipes. Add a scoop of matcha to your favorite dishes for a vibrant energy boost and a hint of natural sweetness.
